Jugend musiziert is one of Germany’s most prominent music competitions for children and young people, organized by the Deutscher Musikrat (German Music Council) in cooperation with music schools and cultural institutions. Young instrumentalists and singers compete in changing categories (e.g., solo instruments, chamber music, voice) across multiple stages: local, regional, and the national final. The competition nurtures musical talent, performance experience, and artistic development. Participation is open to young musicians—typically from elementary through late teens—who prepare a demanding classical or occasionally contemporary repertoire and perform in front of expert juries.
