What Is Jugend musiziert Music Competition?
Jugend musiziert is an age- and category-based German youth music competition, including routes through German schools abroad. For the 2027 season, domestic registration closes November 15, 2026, with a December 15 exception for the overseas-school route. Regional and state rounds lead to the May 13–19 national competition in Bonn where the category permits. Applicants need the correct birth-year group, prepared repertoire and parental consent if underage. Travel is not reimbursed, and the rules exclude professional music training; this is not restricted to school grades 9–12.
