What Is World Language Honor Societies (umbrella)?
Students join a language-specific society through a chartered local school chapter. For example, AATSP's Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica generally requires grade 10 or above and an honor average across at least three semesters of Spanish or Portuguese, with a USD 5 national induction fee. AATF's Société Honoraire de Français generally requires at least fourth-semester French, grade 10-12 (or an accelerated ninth grader), and A-minus French grades, with a USD 4 national induction fee. AATJ's Japanese National Honor Society requires first-term second-year Japanese, a 3.5 Japanese GPA, 3.0 overall GPA, and continued enrollment. NJCL's Latin Honor Society uses annual membership through registered national and state chapters. Local schools may impose higher GPA, service, course, grade, fee, and deadline requirements.
