What Is Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society?
Rho Kappa is the National Council for the Social Studies honor society for high-school social studies. Students must be selected by a faculty committee at a school with an active chapter; there is no national individual application.
National minimums require one semester at the chapter's school, four completed semesters of social studies with plans to complete six, at least a 3.0 unweighted social-studies GPA, at least a 3.0 overall GPA, evidence of civic engagement and one current-faculty recommendation. Chapters may set higher standards and their own application, induction, service, officer and meeting procedures. This structure generally serves juniors and seniors.
