What Is National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS)?
The National Chinese Honor Society is a school-sponsored academic recognition, not a standalone national extracurricular program that students join directly. A local Chinese teacher or chapter sponsor identifies eligible students under the national expectations and the school's own rules, submits inductee names, and orders recognition through CLASS. Students should contact their Chinese teacher; there is no public universal student application portal.
Mandatory national membership plus a certificate costs $4 per inductee. A $5 pin and $25 tassel honor cord are optional add-ons; a cord cannot substitute for membership. A school may charge additional local chapter or ceremony costs, so students should ask what their own fee includes.
