# Montessori Model United Nations Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) is a Model UN program built specifically for younger students: it empowers students ages 9-15, through online and in-person events, to create solutions to critical global issues with international peers using the UN format. Unlike high school Model UN circuits, MMUN's curriculum and conferences are designed for elementary and middle school delegates, making it one of the few full MUN experiences open to 6th-9th graders. ## What You'll Do - Work through MMUN's year-long preparation program, researching your assigned country and committee topics - Draft and present positions, negotiate, and build consensus with delegates from around the world - Attend a culminating conference - 2026-27 offerings include New York City (February 17-20 and March 17-20, 2027), Rome, Bangkok, and an online conference in May 2027 - Practice public speaking and diplomacy in UN-style committee sessions ## Who Should Apply Students ages 9-15 - both Montessori and non-Montessori schools and homeschool groups participate, and registration for the 2026-27 season is open now on the MMUN site. Teachers typically register delegations, and families can inquire directly about joining. ## Outcomes Delegates finish with research, writing, negotiation, and public-speaking experience years before most students encounter Model UN, plus the memory of debating in an international conference setting. Many MMUN alumni continue into high school Model UN programs with a running start.
