What Is National Art Honor Society?
The National Art Honor Society is a chapter-based recognition and service program for high-school visual-arts, design and media-arts students. National minimum eligibility is grades 9-12, at least one semester of art and a B art GPA or the school's equivalent. Membership also rests on art scholarship, service and character. Local chapter bylaws may set higher grades, service hours, meeting attendance, projects, applications and induction schedules.
Students do not apply to NAEA individually. They join through a registered chapter at a school, homeschool network or eligible nonprofit arts organization, under an employed art-faculty sponsor. If no chapter exists, an educator and administrator can establish one. Chapters register or renew each school year, may add students later, and expire nationally on June 30.
