What Is National Economics Challenge (NEC)?

The Council for Economic Education's National Economics Challenge tests high-school teams on microeconomics, macroeconomics and the world economy. Entry starts with a state competition. State winners qualify for an online national semifinal, and selected teams advance to an in-person final.

Ask a teacher or state coordinator about team registration and division placement. David Ricardo is for first-time competitors with limited economics coursework; Adam Smith covers advanced coursework and returning competitors. Check the applicable state and cycle rules before forming a team.
