What Is Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship (GGMS)?
GGMS is a Nevada merit scholarship for students who meet state high-school, residency, curriculum, GPA/test, and later college-enrollment rules. A qualifying traditional Nevada public, private, or charter high-school graduate does not apply: the school/district sends eligible graduate data, the Treasurer sends an award packet around late July or early August, and the student completes an online Acknowledgment of Award. Separate forms exist for out-of-state, homeschool, no-diploma, appeal, disability, and other nontraditional circumstances.
The scholarship pays eligible Nevada institutions by credit: USD 40 for lower-division community-college courses, USD 60 for upper-division community-college/state-college courses, and USD 80 for eligible university courses, for no more than 15 credits per semester and USD 10,000 lifetime. It is not full tuition. Recipients generally need 9 community-college or 12 other credits, a recognized degree/certificate program, satisfactory progress, and a 2.75 semester GPA.
