What Is ORNL Next Generation STEM Internship Program?
Eligible local juniors, seniors, and recent graduates work on STEM or STEM-related projects with ORNL research or professional staff and may attend workshops, lab tours, lectures, poster sessions, seminars, and networking activities.
The completed Summer 2026 appointment ran on site in Oak Ridge for 7-10 full-time weeks and paid $500 per week. The Fall 2026 appointment is virtual, part time for 16-17 weeks, and pays $125 per week; its application is closed. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents, at least 16 by the appointment start, have GPA 3.0, maintain health insurance, live in a cycle-specific group of East Tennessee counties, and be a junior, senior, or recent graduate not yet enrolled in a degree-seeking college program. No 2027 cycle is announced.
