What Is Sejong Korea Scholars Program?
Stanford SPICE's Sejong Korea Scholars Program is a college-level online course for 20–25 U.S. high-school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. From February through early June, students study Korean history, culture, society, and U.S.–Korea relations through weekly reading and writing, recorded or online expert content, about 12 live virtual classes, and an independent academic research paper. Most live sessions are Wednesday evenings, and expected work is four to six hours per week. The course is taught in English and does not require Korean.
Successful participants earn three Stanford Continuing Studies units and a SPICE Certificate of Completion. The spring 2026 application is closed; Stanford says the spring 2027 application will open in September 2026 but has not posted an exact day or deadline. The current public pages also do not publish 2027 tuition or aid terms. A 2021 Stanford-hosted reflection confirms that need-based tuition support existed for at least one past participant, but that is not a current aid guarantee.
