What Is The Concord Review History Camp?
TCR History Camp is an intensive historical-research and writing workshop operated through Varsity Academics by The Concord Review. Online and in-person formats teach students to formulate research questions, evaluate primary and secondary sources, take usable notes, build an evidence-based argument, organize a long paper and cite in Chicago style. Students choose their own historical topic and work with experienced instructors in small cohorts; the current FAQ states 18 students per session and a 1:6 instructor ratio.
Students should arrive having chosen a subject, preferably after reading three to five relevant books and arranging access to research databases. The camp gives them structured group teaching, independent work and one-on-one conferences. Its realistic outcome is a rough draft or strong foundation. A polished 4,000-8,000-word paper normally takes another two to six months, and camp participation never guarantees publication in The Concord Review, which says it publishes about 5% of submissions.
