What Is SWE Emerging First Year Scholarships?
SWE’s Emerging First Year application is the Society-Selected scholarship route relevant to high-school seniors entering eligible engineering, engineering-technology or computing programs. For 2027–28, the official pages agree on a February 8 opening and March 31 closing date. The published Emerging First Year requirements include a GPA of at least 3.5/4.0 and intended enrollment in an ABET-accredited program; award-specific criteria also matter; local SWE sections run separate scholarships. The collegiate/graduate route has different dates, including a conflict between two official pages, and must not be substituted for the first-year deadline. Current application materials and individual award conditions should be checked on the selected form.
