What Is Young Actors Summer Institute (YASI)?

YASI is Trinity Repertory Company's umbrella of in-person summer theater camps in Providence, not one high-school-only institute. Current offerings span students entering grades 1-12 and recent graduates, with grade-banded week-long tracks in acting, musical theater, improvisation and comedy, audition practice, playwriting, directing, tabletop-inspired storytelling, and mounting a one-act or new play. Camps are taught by Trinity Rep artists and educators in professional theater facilities and usually end with a sharing, staged reading, mock audition, or performance. In the completed 2026 cycle, programs ran across July and cost $300-$475; examples for older students included Improv & Comedy and Dice & Drama at $450 and One Act at $475. A $50 nonrefundable deposit held a place and counted toward the total. Need-based financial aid required an application and personal statement before registration, and payment plans were available. The official page now says 'See you in 2027,' but no 2027 calendar, pricing, or registration opening has been published.
