# UNCSA Drama Summer Intensive The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, the state's public arts conservatory in Winston-Salem, runs a three-week Drama Summer Intensive each summer. Faculty members of UNCSA's internationally renowned School of Drama, along with distinguished guest artists, teach a multidisciplinary approach to actor training for stage, film, and television, emphasizing the creative process behind excellent performance. The 2026 session ran June 21 through July 11. ## What You'll Do - Train daily with UNCSA School of Drama faculty and distinguished guest artists - Study acting for stage, film, and television in a conservatory setting - Choose the Acting track or the Musical Theatre track, each with its own audition - Live and work on the UNCSA campus alongside other pre-professional artists (a commuter option is available) ## Who Should Apply Young acting students age 15 or rising high school sophomores through age 18 or high school seniors. Admission is by video audition: two contrasting monologues in a single video of no more than 2.5 minutes (Acting), or a 32-bar musical theater cut plus a contemporary monologue (Musical Theatre). For 2026, the audition deadline was April 15 and the application deadline May 1; the program reached a waiting list, so early application for 2027 is wise. ## Outcomes Students get authentic conservatory training from the faculty of a leading drama school, plus material and feedback that feed directly into BFA auditions. The 2026 cost was $4,116 residential ($2,433 tuition plus $1,633 room and board) or $2,483 for commuters, with a $50 application fee.
