What Is Penn SAS Summer Academies?
Penn's Summer Academies are intensive residential, non-credit programs for current 9th–11th graders, including international students. The umbrella includes two- and three-week options across biomedical research, chemistry, physics, neuroscience, mathematics, social justice, economics, languages, writing, and other sciences, arts, and humanities. The 2026 sessions ran July 11–25 or July 11–August 1. Contrary to the old listing, academies do not award undergraduate credit.
For 2026, tuition was $6,700 for two weeks and $10,050 for three weeks, including program and residential costs; the separate application fee was $100, and a $1,500 enrollment deposit counted toward tuition. Admissions were rolling until each academy filled. Applications required essays, a transcript, one recommendation, and English proficiency or course prerequisites where applicable. Limited full-program scholarships were available only to qualifying Philadelphia public/charter students. Summer 2027 dates, prices, availability, and application terms are not yet published.
