# Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth (PTY) Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth (PTY) is a center for gifted education housed within Vanderbilt University's Peabody College of Education and Human Development. PTY offers a range of summer residential and online programs that provide academically talented students with fast-paced, challenging coursework far beyond the standard high school curriculum. ## About PTY PTY was established to serve the intellectual and social-emotional needs of highly gifted students who are not adequately challenged by grade-level instruction. The programs are designed based on decades of research into the learning needs of gifted learners—fast pace, high complexity, peer interaction with intellectual equals, and mentorship from expert instructors. Each year, PTY serves students from across the United States and internationally through: **Summer Academy at Vanderbilt** An intensive residential program held on Vanderbilt's Nashville campus. Students live in university residence halls and take one or two in-depth courses over two or three weeks. Course subjects span mathematics, science, writing, philosophy, law, and the social sciences. **Distance Learning Programs** Year-round online courses for gifted students who want to pursue advanced content outside of school.
