World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY)

What Is World Artificial Intelligence Competition?

WAICY is a worldwide remote competition for students ages 6-18 to use artificial intelligence in creative or problem-solving work. No prior qualification is required. Students may participate alone or in teams; WAICY does not publish a hard team-size limit and suggests three to five members. A regional win is not universally required.

The announced 2026 tracks are AI Showcase, AI-Generated Art, AI Large Language Models, and AI-Generated Video. Projects may build an AI solution to a real-world problem, document prompts and iterative model development, create themed AI art or video, or demonstrate a domain-focused large-language-model service. The most recent rubric is labeled 2025 and weighs track-specific AI/technical skill plus design, impact, ethics or limitations, iteration, originality, presentation, communication, theme, and Q&A; it is useful preparation but not yet a confirmed 2026 rule.
