What Is 2026 AI City Challenge?
The NVIDIA-organized AI City Challenge is an advanced computer-vision research competition and ECCV workshop, not a high-school-only enrichment program. No grade, age, school-status, or prior-experience requirement is published. Individuals and teams of any size choose one or more of six technical tracks and build systems against released training, validation, and hidden test data.
The 2026 tracks cover multi-camera 3D perception, transportation-safety captioning and VQA, anomalous-event reasoning in transportation video, text-based person re-identification, generative traffic-video forecasting, and cross-city object detection. Each track has its own data-access rules, file format, metrics, and evaluation workflow. Competitors need substantial machine-learning, computer-vision, programming, data-engineering, and compute capability; this is not described as beginner training or organizer mentorship.
