What Is Washington State Opportunity Scholarship?
The Baccalaureate Scholarship is the bachelor's-degree pathway within Washington State Opportunity Scholarship. It can provide up to $22,500 over as many as six years for eligible STEM and health-care majors at eligible public and private Washington institutions, along with career support. Scholarship funds may help with education-related costs beyond tuition, including housing, transportation, and food.
Applicants must be Washington residents, have household income at or below 125% of Washington median family income, complete FAFSA or WASFA, pursue an eligible STEM or health-care bachelor's major at an eligible Washington institution, and meet enrollment rules. They must have earned or expect to earn a Washington high-school credential by June of the application year and have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA or a passing GED score. Applicants who already hold a bachelor's degree are ineligible. A post-high-school college-credit cap also applies, while Running Start and other high-school dual-credit hours are excluded from that cap. The program is not limited to a single high-school grade; GED, current-college, and transfer candidates may qualify.
