What Is UPEACE Young Leaders for Peace?
Young Leaders for Peace is a two-week residential program at the University for Peace campus in San José, Costa Rica. The completed 2026 cohort ran June 14–28 for current high-school students/rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Ten weekday sessions covered peace and conflict, nonviolent communication, leadership, emotional/cultural intelligence, social innovation, sustainability, agriculture, reflection, and a personal action plan, with farm, hiking, beach, and service experiences. Students lived in staffed campus cabins.
The 2026 fee was $7,000, including housing, all meals, onsite first aid/minor health consultation, activities, excursions, local transport, and airport shuttle. Airfare and personal health insurance were extra. Applications and the linked form are closed. UPEACE has not posted 2027 dates, fee, deadlines, aid, or application, so March 29, 2027 is not a confirmed deadline.
