What Is AAN Neuroscience Research Prize?
The American Academy of Neurology and Child Neurology Society recognize original, individually completed high school neuroscience research. Applicants submit a 300-word abstract, full research report, bibliography and e-signatures from a parent or guardian, teacher and mentor. Physicians and scientists first judge abstracts, then conduct a comprehensive review of leading projects for neuroscience relevance, creativity, methods, data interpretation and report quality.
The 2025-26 cycle closed October 21, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central and selected three AAN winners plus one Bhuwan Garg winner. Each received $1,000, recognition, a scientific poster presentation and meeting travel support for the student and a parent or mentor. The current 2026-27 application opened July 29, 2026 and closes October 20, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CT. Central Time on that date is America/Chicago daylight time (UTC-5). Current applicants are individually researching students enrolled in US secondary school grades 9-12, regardless of age.
