What Is ACS Project SEED Summer Program?
Project SEED is the American Chemical Society's paid summer research fellowship for high-school students from financially disadvantaged households. First-time Summer I fellows and returning Summer II fellows work on meaningful chemistry or chemistry-related research with a scientist mentor, then produce a report or poster. In-person projects generally require a daily commute and about 40 hours per week for 8–10 weeks; some 2026 projects were virtual.
The 2026 student application closed April 6, 2026 and projects ran in June and July. ACS has not announced the 2027 application window, dates, locations, or stipend, so prior timing is not projected. Both 2026 Summer I and II fellows received $4,000, and sites may not deduct laboratory supplies or materials from that amount.
