What Is Secondary Student Training Program (SSTP)?
Iowa’s Secondary Student Training Program pairs advanced students currently in grades 10-11 with university research mentors. The five-and-a-half-week residential 2027 programme is June 16-July 23. Applications open December 15, 2026 at 5 p.m. CST and close February 16, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. CST. Students must commit to the full programme and may attend only once.
The current application requires two essays of up to 750 words each, academic records, SAT or ACT scores, and two nonrelative references: one academic and one character reference. The application fee is $95, with waiver requests by email. International admits have English and student-visa requirements.
