What Is Air Force ROTC High School Scholarship?

HSSP is a highly competitive four-year merit scholarship and officer-development pathway, not ordinary no-strings college aid. The open AY27-28 cycle is for applicants who will start an undergraduate program at an AFROTC-affiliated college and enter AFROTC in 2027-28. Awards may be uncapped or capped at $18,000 or $36,000 in annual tuition, with a $900 yearly textbook allowance and $300-$500 monthly stipend after contracting and activation. A recipient may instead request up to $10,000 per year for qualifying university-billed housing.

For academic year 2027–28, the final Board 2 initial application/questionnaire closes December 11, 2026, without a published clock or timezone. Eligibility documents and scores are due December 22 at 11:59 p.m. CST (December 23 at 05:59 UTC) for candidates who started on time. Interview completion is due March 5, 2027. Those supporting stages do not permit new initial applications; the earlier Board 1 September 15 gate remains historical.
