American Computer Science League (ACSL) All-Star Contest
Organization: ACSL
Program Overview
Top scorers from ACSL compete at All-Stars. Programming and CS theory.
The **ACSL All-Star Contest** is the culminating event of the American Computer Science League’s annual competition series, inviting top-performing students from regular-season contests to compete at an advanced level. Participants solve challenging problems in both **computer science theory** (such as algorithms, data structures, number systems, and logic) and **programming**, applying concepts under time constraints in an exam-style environment. The contest is designed for students who enjoy rigorous problem-solving, have experience with at least one programming language, and are comfortable with formal CS topics beyond a standard high school curriculum. This program is well-suited for students who have already participated in ACSL contests and want to deepen their engagement with competitive computer science. Success at the All-Star level can strengthen **college applications** by demonstrating sustained interest in CS, the ability to master technical material, and performance in a selective, national or international contest setting. Students gain: - Exposure to advanced CS concepts that support AP CS and entry-level college courses - Experience working under competition conditions - Evidence of achievement that can be listed in applications, activity résumés, and recommendation letters Interested students should review ACSL’s contest structure and study materials on the official website and work with their school team or coach to qualify for and register for the All-Star Contest.
