What Is Auburn University Summer Science Institute?

The Summer Science Institute (SSI), run by Auburn University's College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) Outreach office, is a week-long residential program that introduces rising high school juniors and seniors to advanced scientific research and STEM careers. In 2026, sixteen students took part.

Rising high school juniors and seniors with a strong interest in science and mathematics. Selection is competitive and considers an essay, a letter of recommendation, standardized test scores and STEM course grades.
