What Is UC Berkeley Pre-College Scholars?
Berkeley Pre-College Scholars is an umbrella summer program with three materially different tracks. Residential students live in supervised campus housing, take two eligible lower-division Berkeley courses, and participate in orientations, workshops, activities, and excursions. Commuter students live with adult relatives in the Bay Area and enroll in eligible campus courses. Virtual students take eligible online Summer Sessions courses from home. Successful coursework appears on an official Berkeley transcript and earns college credit, although another institution decides whether to accept transfer credit.
For 2026, applicants generally needed to have completed grade 10 or 11, hold at least a B/3.0 average, and be age 16 by the relevant start date. Residential and virtual tracks accepted qualifying international students; the commuter track had location, housing, and immigration restrictions. Residential Session C cost $15,987 for eight weeks and Session D cost $14,687 for six weeks. Commuter and virtual students paid $25 to apply, $635 per unit, $585 registration, and $73 document management, plus a $500 international visitor fee when applicable.
