What Is CHCI NextGen Latino Leadership Program?
CHCI's NextGen program brings current 10th- and 11th-grade students to Washington, DC for one all-expenses-paid week of civic engagement, leadership development, Congress and Capitol Hill, national sites, Latino leaders, and peer community. Travel, lodging, meals, and activities are covered, and participants become lifelong CHCI Alumni Association members. All individuals may apply; applicants should be invested in the Latino community or policy affecting it, and financial need receives preference.
The application is open for two 2027 sessions: June 6-12 and June 20-26, subject to the congressional calendar. It closes January 15, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. Applicants submit three essays, a transcript, resume, one non-family recommendation, and parent/guardian permission. CHCI assigns the session after considering preferences; the program is in English.
