What Is ETH Student Summer Research Fellowship?
ETH Zurich's Computer Science Department offers this competitive, fully in-person fellowship to eligible bachelor's and master's students worldwide. It is not a high-school program. Fellows join an ETH research group for the fixed two months of July and August, work on a faculty-guided project, collaborate with lab members, and join cohort and social activities in Zurich. Areas span machine learning, security, systems, robotics, software, bio/medical informatics, HCI, theory, and visual computing.
The 2026 cycle is closed. ETH says the next application window will open at the beginning of November 2026, but has not published the exact opening, deadline, 2027 dates, stipend, or decision schedule. Historical 2026 terms were July 1-August 28, a CHF 4,000 stipend, organized single-room student housing deducted from the stipend, and covered travel and visa expenses.
