What Is Gap Year Association Accredited Program?
GYA publishes profiles of separate providers and experiences. A listing can describe a provider's age range, season, duration, countries, supervision level, residential model, experiential focus, cost range, financial aid, college credit, and 529-funding status. Students then apply to the selected provider under that provider's current official terms.
GYA accreditation is an evidence-based provider review against standards for philosophy and professional ethics, experiential and reflective education, mentorship, student agency, preparation, risk management, and related practices. It is useful due-diligence evidence, but it is not a guarantee that every departure, staff member, destination, activity, partner, health plan, outcome, or participant experience is safe or suitable. Accreditation status can also change and must be checked at the time of selection.
