Program Overview
Kentucky’s statewide Governor’s Cup is a multi-event academic competition series for middle and high school teams.
Governor's Cup is a statewide academic competition series in Kentucky organized by the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition (KAAC). It features multiple contest areas, including Quick Recall (quiz bowl–style team play), Future Problem Solving, Written Assessment tests in core subjects, Composition, and other events. Schools compete beginning at the district level, advance to regional contests, and top performers qualify for the state Governor's Cup. High school students in grades 9–12 participate as part of their school’s academic team, with divisions also available for younger grades (elementary and middle) under the same overall program. The competition helps students deepen subject knowledge, sharpen critical thinking, and build teamwork and communication skills, while offering recognition at school, regional, and state levels.
