What Is IEEE TryEngineering Summer Institute?
IEEE TryEngineering and the National Student Leadership Conference jointly operated the 2026 Summer Institute as a portfolio of residential precollege camps in Aerospace, Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, Cybersecurity, and broad Engineering. Students lived in supervised university housing, joined hands-on engineering and technology challenges, completed leadership curriculum, met speakers, and took program-specific field trips.
The 2026 roster covered eight U.S. campuses—Columbia, Duke, Georgetown, Rice, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Michigan, and Penn—plus the University of Oxford in England. U.S. sessions generally ran nine days and cost $4,195-$4,495; Oxford ran twelve days and cost $6,395. Tuition included dorm housing, on-campus meals, course materials, academics, trips, tours, activities, and local event transportation. Travel to the campus, off-campus meals, laundry, souvenirs, and personal spending were extra.
