What Is SAME STEM/Engineering & Construction Camps?
SAME operates six one-week residential camps that introduce high-school students to engineering, architecture, construction and related STEM careers through project challenges, field trips, demonstrations, panels and teamwork. The camps are hosted with U.S. military engineering organizations in Hawaii, Mississippi, Florida, Colorado, North Carolina and California. Activities vary by site and can include concrete-beam construction, surveying, boats, drones, robotics, design-build challenges and optional physical training.
The 2026 season is complete. The Army camp cost $100; the other five cost $800. Registration covered lodging, meals, instruction and materials. Families were responsible for travel to the camp region, although the published travel process included pickup from the closest airport. Selected students paid half of the registration fee to reserve their place. SAME Posts could sponsor half or more, but sponsorship was not guaranteed.
