What Is Project Soapbox?
Project Soapbox is a teacher-implemented Mikva Challenge curriculum, not a direct national student application. Students choose an issue affecting them or their community, research evidence, write and revise a persuasive two-minute speech with a call to action, deliver it to peers and listen to other viewpoints. Teachers can use it in any grade or subject, with optional school, citywide and regional showcases. Schools obtain curriculum access through a site license or a Mikva Chapter/Partner Site.
Soapbox Nation is a separate optional showcase for students participating through eligible partner sites. In 2026, one speaker from each Chapter/Partner Site was selected for all-expenses-paid travel with one parent to a May 31 Chicago mainstage. That cycle is complete; 2027 dates are not announced. Classroom implementation itself is rolling and need not include competition.
