What Is MIT THINK Scholars Program?
THINK is an MIT-undergraduate-run research and innovation program for high-school students who have researched a promising science, technology, or engineering idea but still need funding and guidance to implement it. Individuals or teams of two submit a project proposal that can be completed in one semester for no more than $1,000. Selected finalists receive up to $1,000 in project funding, weekly technical mentorship, and—when permitted—a four-day all-expenses-paid visit to MIT for lab tours, meetings, and presentations. The 2025–26 application opened November 1, 2025 and closed January 1, 2026; semifinalists were interviewed in January, finalists began projects in February, and projects concluded in June 2026. Applicants must be high-school students with a permanent U.S. address.
