What Is National Association of Moot Court?
NAMC publishes one fictional appellate case and shared rules for a circuit of independently hosted regional and invitational tournaments. Two-person middle- or high-school teams argue both sides before judges; regional teams qualify for the national championship. Virtual and in-person options were offered in 2026, and international or independent teams could participate subject to a responsible noncompeting primary contact.
The separate brief-writing competition does not require oral-argument participation. Its entries are individual 2,000-2,500-word briefs using the closed case record, with original work and no AI/chatbot writing. The completed 2026 regionals cost $80 per team online or $120 per team in person. Spots were first come, first served and several sold out.
