Exoplanet Watch invites anyone worldwide—from complete beginners and students to professional astronomers—to help refine the timing and properties of transiting exoplanets. Participants may collect images with their own telescope or work from robotic-telescope and archival observations, turn the images into light curves using NASA's free open-source EXOTIC workflow and submit qualified results to the AAVSO Exoplanet Database. Submitted work appears in project results and may support follow-up by major observatories.
Participation is rolling, self-paced and not limited to grades 6-12. A web-connected device is enough to begin, with a brief tutorial and community support through Slack and biweekly meetings. The official data-checkout page contains a stale maintenance notice that conflicts with newer NASA invitations to request data, so participants without a telescope should verify the checkout tool before planning around it.
