# Perlman Music Program Summer Music School The Summer Music School is the flagship program of The Perlman Music Program, founded by Toby Perlman and centered on violinist Itzhak Perlman, who teaches and conducts on campus. Each summer, 30-35 gifted string players ages 12-18 from around the world spend seven weeks on PMP's waterfront campus on Shelter Island, New York, in a community built around uncompromising musical standards and personal warmth. ## What You'll Do - Take two to three private lessons weekly and play in orchestra rehearsals conducted by Itzhak Perlman - Sing in the program's signature chorus and receive chamber music coaching - Practice four hours a day, six days a week, with structured breaks, supported by physical awareness training - Perform in works-in-progress concerts throughout the residency ## Who Should Apply Violinists, violists, and cellists ages 12-18 (as of the first day of camp) performing at a gifted level. Admissions are based solely on talent; applications are open from October to January each year with a $95 application fee (discounted to $75 a month early) and a recorded audition.
