What Is PREFACE?
RPI PREFACE provides engineering-design projects with faculty and industry mentors. The official page describes July 19-August 1, 2026 and an AI theme. That cycle accepted students entering grade 11 or 12, with U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and strong English. Twenty students were selected using academics, essays, recommendations and optional scores.
The 2026 cutoff was April 11. Tuition was $4,750 including room, meals, instruction, supplies, activities and local transportation; travel to the Capital Region was extra. Partial need-based aid did not affect admission. Future dates, costs and criteria are unannounced; no demographic priority is assumed.
