What Is PROMYS at Boston University?
PROMYS is a six-week residential mathematics immersion for about 80 high-school students and 25 undergraduate counsellors from the U.S. and abroad. Students begin each weekday with Number Theory, then spend substantial days, evenings, and weekends experimenting, spotting patterns, making conjectures, proving results, and revising daily problem sets with counsellor feedback. Exploration labs, advanced seminars, minicourses, guest lectures, and returning-student research extend the core.
The 2026 session ran June 28-August 8 and is complete. The deadline was February 27, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The residential cost was up to $8,000 depending on aid; U.S. students from households under $80,000 attended free, full and partial need-based aid was available, and international requests were considered case by case. No 2027 dates, application, or cost are published.
