What Is Quill and Scroll Writing, Visual?
Quill and Scroll's annual Writing, Visual, Multimedia Contest recognizes published student journalism across writing, photography, design, editorial art, audio, video, social media, and multimedia. It is an all-digital school-managed submission process, not an individual creative-writing upload. The 2026 contest offered 54 categories, including three middle-school categories.
For 2026, eligible work had to have been published between February 6, 2025 and February 5, 2026. A school adviser copied the official spreadsheet, entered school and adviser details, listed each student and category, supplied one publicly accessible live URL or PDF/image/folder link per entry, shared the sheet with Quill and Scroll, and arranged payment. Google Docs were not accepted as published writing. The fee was $8 per entry, not $15.
