What Is SCAD Rising Star?
SCAD Rising Star is Savannah College of Art and Design's four-week, credit-bearing summer program for current high-school juniors who will be rising seniors. It is separate from SCAD Summer Seminars, a one-week workshop program for younger high-school students. The 2026 Rising Star session ran June 28-July 24 in Atlanta and Savannah.
Participants completed two SCAD faculty-taught college courses: one major-specific course and one foundation-studies or general-education course. The four-week schedule compressed workloads normally taught over ten weeks. Successful students earned 10 quarter hours recorded on an official SCAD transcript; another institution decides whether to accept transfer credit. Course placement depended on the program-fee receipt and capacity, and first choices were not guaranteed.
