What Is Scholarships for Military Children?
Fisher House Foundation's Scholarships for Military Children program supports unmarried military dependents under age 23 who hold a valid Uniformed Services Identification card. For 2027-28, it will award 500 scholarships of $2,000 each, including at least one at every commissary that receives qualified applications and additional awards at higher-volume commissaries. Applicants select the commissary where they shop or the nearest one; they do not need to live on an installation.
Applicants must be enrolled or plan to enroll full time in a bachelor's program or a community/junior-college program designed for direct transfer to a four-year institution. High-school applicants need at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA; college applicants need 2.5. The student must complete and attest to the application personally, write a 500-word essay, submit transcripts, and validate military-dependent eligibility with the USID benefits number. The 2027-28 portal will open sometime in December 2026, but Fisher House has not announced the exact day or closing deadline.
