What Is Science Olympiad — Divisions B and C?
Science Olympiad is a school-team STEM competition organized through state Science Olympiad programs and the national nonprofit Science Olympiad, Inc. Division B serves grades 6-9 and Division C serves grades 9-12. A registered team has up to 15 students and prepares for a rotating set of knowledge, laboratory, inquiry and engineering-build events across life science, earth and space science, chemistry and physics, technology and engineering, and scientific reasoning.
Students do not submit an individual national application. They join or try out for their membership school's team under local school and coach procedures. The coach or school registers through its state organization, and teams may advance from invitationals and regional tournaments to a state tournament. State champions or other allotted teams may reach the National Tournament; ordinary membership does not guarantee any tournament place beyond the local pathway.
