What Is Solar Car Challenge?
Solar Car Challenge Foundation runs a high-school team programme to design, build, document, inspect and race a roadworthy solar vehicle. The prior published rulebook required students in grades 9-12 including the summer after graduation from the same school district. Drivers need a licence permitting unaccompanied driving. A suggested core team of twelve is not a maximum. Confirm current updates because the full rulebook retains a 2025 copyright.
For 2027, Intent to Race is due January 31, official documents and fees March 1, liability insurance June 1, scrapbook June 15 and video July 1. Check-in is July 14, scrutineering July 15-17 and racing July 18-21 at Texas Motor Speedway. No deadline timezone is stated. Intent alone is not complete paid entry, and a car must pass inspection before racing.
