What Is Columbia Engineering SHAPE?
SHAPE—the Summer High School Academic Program for Engineers—is an in-person, three-week Columbia Engineering program in New York City. Students may attend one or both sessions. Summer 2026 ran July 6–24 and July 27–August 14; the application is closed, all decisions were released, and no 2027 dates, tuition, or application timeline are posted.
Students take intensive engineering coursework in areas such as robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, innovation/design, and AI. The day mixes professor-led class, lab and MakerSpace work, projects, speakers, electives, college-preparation workshops, company visits, and social activities, generally from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
