What Is Summer Mines Engineering and Training?
SUMMET is a one-week residential engineering, science, and technology program on the Colorado School of Mines campus in Golden. It is tailored for rising high-school seniors who may be the first in their family to attend college, while explicitly welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and locations. Participants live in a residence hall, work on a team design challenge, rotate through engineering and science workshops, tour the Edgar Experimental Mine, learn about admissions and college resources, socialize with peers, and present their work at a closing program.
The completed 2026 sessions ran May 31-June 5, June 7-12, and June 21-26. Mines covered program costs, room, board, and meals; accepted students paid a $50 confirmation fee and arranged their own transportation. Applications are closed, and no 2027 dates or deadline are posted. The stored February 15, 2027 deadline was only a projection and has been removed.
