What Is Summer Science Program (SSP)?
Summer Science Program is a residential research experience where students work in small teams with scientists and educators. The published 2026 overview describes five weeks on a university campus and four project areas: Astrophysics, Bacterial Genomics, Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Telescope observations and asteroid orbits belong to the astrophysics option; they do not describe every SSP project.
The 2027 application page lists a December 2026 opening month.
