What Is Be My Eyes Video Volunteer?
Be My Eyes connects a blind or low-vision caller to a sighted volunteer for quick visual interpretation. The caller shares one-way video; both people share audio, and the volunteer describes labels, colors, screens, objects, or other everyday visual information. Requests go to several volunteers, so answering is optional and calls are usually only a few minutes. Routing uses language and local daytime, generally 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. for the volunteer.
The current 2026 terms require every volunteer to be at least 18. Volunteers create an account in the free iOS/Android app; there is no fixed cohort deadline. Volunteers need a compatible smartphone, internet or cellular data, an account, language selection, permissions, and acceptance of the terms and privacy practices—including call recording and content/data provisions. The service is not for emergency, medical, critical-safety, street-crossing, or mobility tasks, and users must not exchange specified sensitive information.
