What Is U.S. Air Force Academy Summer Seminar?
Summer Seminar is a five-day residential campus experience for high-school juniors entering senior year. Participants live in cadet dormitories, eat in the cadet dining facility, explore academic and research spaces, join application and cadet-life workshops, and spend nearly all day with an upper-class cadet Element Leader.
The completed 2026 cycle ran three June sessions after a December 1-January 15 application. USAFA historically receives more than 3,200 applications and selects roughly 640 students using academics, athletics, leadership/potential, and extracurricular or community participation. The page explicitly says selection is not a prerequisite, prescreen, or admissions advantage for an Academy appointment. The next cycle is not announced. Historically the registration fee has been about $300; actual future cost is set when registration opens. Lodging, meals, supplies, and seminar clothing were included, while families arranged and paid travel to Colorado Springs.
